25th meeting of the German-speaking Sisters of Divine Providence
The German-speaking congregations of Sisters of Divine Providence held their 25th meeting under the topic: “We Sisters of Providence on the footsteps of St. Hildegard”; the meeting took place in Bingen on the River Rhein from 20th to 23rd September 2018.
Eighteen Sisters from seven different congregations and four different countries (Germany, Netherlands, France, and the Switzerland) came to ‘House Cardinal Volk’ in Bingen in order to discover together the traces of St. Hildegard.
The program that the preparatory team had jointly prepared in Bingen, contained a good mix of contemplative texts about the Holy Hildegard and the common search for traces on the spot. A major highlight on this weekend was the visit to the Benedictine nuns in Eibingen and the parish- and pilgrimage church of St. Hildegard in Rüdesheim.
All participants have made the experience that the writings of St. Hildegard are very enriching to our spirituality as Sisters of Divine Providence. There was one thought of Holy Hildegard that touched very many sisters: "For God has made mankind like a very beautiful jewel on the Earth, in its splendor all of creation is reflected." Saint Hildegard is convinced that God looks at us and behold, we are pleasing to him. We humans are a "mirror of all God's miracles".
