On the way to the General Chapter 2020
We Sisters of Divine Providence announce that we perform our 29th General Chapter. It will take place in Curitiba/PR, Brazil, from January 5th to February 9th 2020.
We are on a way of faith and in a dynamic that includes the whole Congregation. The attitude of Mary from Bethany gives us light on this way: “Mary stood up immediately and went to Jesus” (Jn 11, 29). Thus, we have decided on the following theme:
“Confidently let us go out in order to defend life in a mystic-prophetic religious life!”
We trust in your solidarity and prayers and thank you very much for it!
We also invite you to pray with us this “Prayer for the General Chapter/2020”:
Triune God!
You're a living and effective presence on our pilgrim way as Sisters of Divine Providence. In your hands, we confidently place our congregation with its variety of cultures, commitments, and searches in the different continents and at this point in history.
Providential Father!
In your merciful love we feel loved, called and sent as a sign of this love in our communities, provinces, regions, and into the realities, in which we live. We ask for your grace, so that we can live fruitfully and consistently our ‘Yes’ to your project for life.
Jesus, our Horizon!
Through your word we feel challenged and animated to start: to go out beyond ourselves, to overcome the fear for the future and the resistance for changes. In the light of your word, we want to live the mystic-prophetic dimension of consecration. We want also to become more sensitive for the signs of the times, to recognize and understand them, so as to be able to give an answer from within the faith.
Unity-causing Holy Spirit!
We feel enveloped and enlightened by your light as we continue our way as loyal partakers in the Mission of God. Send us your divine wisdom, so that we take up our story of the past and make to-day bold decisions for the future, in fidelity to the Gospel and the Charism.
Mary, mother and companion, bless our chapter process and pray for us. We want to follow your example of quickly going out to serve and defend life. Just as Mary of Bethany did, we want to get up immediately and go to Jesus, your son. Let us be other Marys’ that are on the road together in simplicity, trust and joy, being a sign of Divine Providence! Amen!
