Formation in Love
Everyone has a life story, including the story of religious vocations. The Solemnity of the celebration of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception is a special day for the Sisters of Divine Providence in Indonesia because it is the Feast of the Foundation of the “Star of the Sea Province”.
This feast day will be an unforgettable day, not only for the Province, but especially for Lasmian Tiodora Samosir, from North Sumatra, and Stefania Maria Anjela Opat, from Timor, Nusa Tenggara Timur. On December 8, 2022 both were welcomed by Sr. Klarista SDP, Provincial of the Province of Indonesia, and admitted to the Postulancy in the „St. Theresia", in Solo. They expressed their first love for Jesus in the Congregation of the Sisters of Divine Providence, with hearts ready to step forward to know more about His love.
Lasmian, in her sharing, said: “During my struggles, I always pray to God, asking for guidance where my life should go, until I get guidance through the word of Divine Providence. Is there really a Congregation of the Sisters of Divine Providence? Out of curiosity, I dared to go a step further to find out, until I found the Congregation of the Sisters of Divine Providence. I dared to decide to continue my vocation here.”
Anjela also shared her vocational journey through her faith experience: “My interest in the Congregation began by seeing the lives of the Sisters and their daily activities. This interest continues to draw me to the various processes and dynamics, so that I can grow more and have the courage to take God's call up to the next stage”.
Sr. Klarista encouraged and strengthened Lasmian and Anjela, saying: "The Postulancy-Novitiate period is a formation in love, not a school where there is bullying. In this place, the Postulants and Novices learn to love and be loved. The Postulancy is the period of mutual knowledge between the postulant and the Congregation (Constitutions 2020, no. 58). This introduction to Religious Life requires an open heart on both sides.”
