The 3rd November 2017 was a special day for the Congregation of the Sisters of Divine Providence, who celebrated their 175th anniversary. All communities of the ‘Heart of Jesus Province’ in Florianópolis prepared this day of celebration and Thanksgiving with much love.
Many sisters accepted the invitation and came to the Provincial House. The first activity of this intensive day was the official opening of the chapter year for the Heart of Jesus Province! Again an opportunity that God has given us to make it a year of grace for us!
This was followed by the publication of the book "My mirror: Poems by Sister Andréa Ternus". Through a project of the University UFSC, a team of students and entrepreneurs got to know the dream of Sr. Andréa, namely, to summarize the poems that she had written during her life, in a book. This dream became the dream of all those involved; and thanks be to God, the book got ready in time, so that it could be published at the anniversary celebration of the congregation. There were moments of great joy and emotion. Sr. Andréa was so happy!
Then the sisters, as well as the employees of the Provincial House took part in the celebration of the Eucharist. Chaplain Vânio da Silva was the celebrant. We celebrated with praise and thanksgiving the 175 years of the congregation and the opening of the chapter year of the province.
The morning concluded with a festive Lunch.
A surprise was still waiting for the sisters! Representatives of the Hospital of St. Joseph from Jaraguá do Sul / SC had prepared a Eucharist celebration in the Church of the Province House and invited the sisters to this celebration. A Choir sang beautiful songs, so that this day became even more festive. After Mass honors were still rendered: words and songs in recognition of all that the sisters have done until today.
