Echoes from the Jubilee celebration in Cuiabá, Brazil
The province “Holy Spirit” in Cuiabá celebrated the anniversary of our Congregation during the Provincial Assembly with the participants of 30 Sisters and five ‘Non-members, (Lay-people).
"Behold, I establish my Covenant with you and your descendants" (Gen 9.9): the symbol of the Rainbow, as a revelation of God’s promise to all mankind, inspired the Assembly to go the way of those days in the light of this promise. This process then led to a more intensive discovery of the Good News that were chosen and reflected.
An expression of the common searching was the prayers in the morning, which were -through the power of faith in God - fulfilling the hearts of all with the News of the Spirit.
During these days, the priorities of the Provincial Chapter were revived: Culture of vocation, missionary Commission, Lay people of Divine Providence. The essence of each priority was portrayed in a very creative and participatory way.
The very lively celebrations presented the life of all, who had preceded us in the 175 years of our history - especially that our founder Eduard Michelis, but also the life of those, who are still active all over the world, today. Gratitude and goodwill were the tenor of prayers and songs. The participants felt anointed and commissioned by a higher power that emerges from the predecessors of the Congregation.
The sisters gathered in Cuiabá felt the unity and the solidarity of all Provinces and Regions of the Congregation, as well as the solidarity of all the sisters that belong to it. Sr. Ivoni Heisler and Sr. Ruth Mariela Limachi were in Münster, where they represented the Province at the great Jubilee Festival.
In the evening, a beautiful celebration of the Jubilee year took place. The joy bubbled like a spring from the heart of every individual. The exchange of gifts illustrated the joy and friendship with each other. How many gestures of mutual assistance, of tenderness and mercy!
The zenith of the meeting was the rendering of the seminar on a new structure for our Congregation in Latin America, which was held from August 31 to September 3 in Curitiba. With openness and a sense of belonging, the sisters accepted the process made so far, being aware that we still have a long way to go.
Praise and thanks to the living God and His Providence!
