Opening of the 29th General Chapter of the Sisters of Divine Providence
At 10 a.m on January 5, 2020, during the Eucharistic Celebration at St. Augustine and St. Monica Parish in Curitiba / Paraná, Brazil, the 29th General Chapter of the Congregation was opened. The celebration was presided by Archbishop Amilton Manoel da Silva, Auxiliary Bishop of Curitiba, concelebrated by Fathers Joachim Andrade and Volnei Carlos de Campos, with the participation of the Sisters and the laity.
Bishop Amilton in his homily he shared his reflection on the Epiphany of the Lord, relating it to Religious Life as the Epiphany of God's love for the world.
After Mass in the Chapter Hall, Sr. Marian Ambrosio, Superior General, made the official opening of the Chapter, with the presence of the Chapter members and a large group of Sisters of the Communities and Provinces. On this occasion, he proclaimed:
"Nine months ago, as we convened the 29th General Chapter of the Congregation, we underlined the prophetic force of the Word of God that provokes, encourages, and motivates us: she - Mary of Bethany, immediately rose and went to meet Jesus!
Each Sister of Divine Providence heard the call:
- Let us rise, because Jesus calls us!
- Let us rise, because there is a life in need of defense!
- Let us rise up as a mystical-prophetic religious life! "
Let us remain in communion and prayer, in the certainty that the Holy Trinity will lead us.
