Retreat with ‚Laudato Si‘ in Indonesia
All Sisters of the Indonesian Province „Mary, Star of the Sea“ made a common retreat with the theme of ‘Laudato Si’, the care for the common house. Through this retreat the sisters got very enthusiastic because they experienced a new awareness for creation. This retreat was offered three times. The retreat for the third group took place from 16th to 23rd October 2016 and 31 Sisters took part from the Islands of Java, Timor and Kalimantan.
Father Martin Harun, OFM, who translated the Encyclical‚ Laudato Si‘ into the Indonesian language directed the retreats. At the end, during the Eucharistic celebration, the retreatants assumed the obligation that they and their communities would seek new possibilities of preserving creation and act accordingly. This initiative is an attempt to implement the vision of their provincial chapter into practice.
After the retreat, all sisters could take the material for the year of mercy of our congregation to their communities. They will use this material for the opening of the jubilee year on our foundation day on November 3, 2016.
