Celebration of the First Profess on the Feast of the Holy Trinity
"They went, saw Him and stayed with Him!" (Jn 1,39)
On June 12, 2022, on the Feast of the Trinity, the Solemnity of our Congregation, Sisters Edicleia Batista Reges from the province of Porto Alegre, Elisa Wirade from Mozambique and Thaís Fernandes de Souza from the province of Florianópolis gave their "Yes" to the call of God and took their first vows as Sisters of Divine Providence.
The Eucharistic celebration took place at 10 a.m. in the church of the Provincial House in Florianópolis and was filled with praise and thanks to God. Present were sisters from the four provinces of Latin America, including Sr. Maria Rita Xavier Mendes from the General Coordination, family members and friends. The celebration was broadcast on social media. Thus, absent family members, sisters in their communities and other people were able to participate in this meaningful and solemn moment. The mother of Edicleia from Pará (Northern Brazil) and the sister of Sr. Elisa from Mozambique also participated, in the form of an audio that was played during the intercession.
In the year in which we celebrate our 180th anniversary, we are glad and grateful that God's Providence continues to call young people to follow him in our Congregation, to live and integrate the Spirituality and Charism – the inheritance of the Founder Eduard Michelis - "to live and act in deep trust and total devotion to God's Providence" and "we know that we are sent, to witness to the love of God and Christian hope, especially with the poor, and thus to glorify God". (Const. No.1)
Thanks to the families of the three sisters who make their daughters available for the service of the Kingdom of God in the Congregation of the Sisters of Divine Providence. Thanks to all those who supported, believed in them and contributed to their education. Let us continue to support them in their formation process in the Juniorate and in their mission.
On this solemn occasion we sang the hymn of praise: "Glory to God, Holy Trinity.... To you praise and worship, to you praise and gratitude".
After the Eucharistic celebration there was a delicious lunch for all present; thus, the joy of the day continued.
