The 6th October 2018 was a feast day in the house “Divine Providence" in Trindade, Florianópolis, Brazil. Sisters, relatives and friends gathered to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Sister Elvira (Barbina Raitz). She is daughter of José Raitz and Gertrudes Conradi and was born on 3rd October 1918 in Rachadel, the Interior of the District of Antônio Carlos/SC. On June 29th 1942, she entered the Congregation of the “Sisters of Divine Providence” in Florianópolis.
During the celebration of the Eucharist and in spontaneous encounters during the course of the day, we thanked God for her long life. Also, we remembered her most important attitudes and characteristics, as well as from where she received her strength again and again on the long way of her life.
Her quiet and simple being, her attentive and loving look, her smiling face, her supportive words, her trust in God and her prayerful attitude, her love for life, the loyalty to her mission, her sensitivity towards the situations of other people... touched and influenced the life of many people.
