Mutirão to reform the road for the good of society
Sr. Patrisia, a member of the “Step by Step” Community, Maubesi, invited the local community to work together to reform the community road. The task force was held on Friday, March 12, 2021, in Maubesi, Insana Tengah district, Timor Tengah Utara-Indonesia. This service involved local residents, the Sisters and the boarding school youth who are cared for by the Sisters of Divine Providence.
Sr. Patrisia said she was moved to carry out this task force because she saw that the community road was damaged. It was worsened due to several days of heavy rain, resulting in deeper and more difficult pot holes to pass. One day, when coming from Church Mass, Sr. Patrisia saw that Sr. Anna almost fell because of bad roads and she was unable to control her motorcycle. Likewise, Sr. Patricia, alongside with a child, on a motorcycle, also fell on this road. Thank goodness, no one was injured in these accidents.
This experience encouraged Sr. Patrisia to invite the people to make a joint effort to reform the road. This road is also used by the neighboring community, especially by women and school children.
Sr. Patrisia, the Sisters and the people hope that the whole society, especially the local government, will participate in this reform work. They also expect donations from concerned people with this reality.
