Laudato si’, - Blessed are you, my Lord
The earth is our common home, where everything is interconnected. Protecting the environment is the responsibility of each and every one of us so that we can provide the next generation with a dignified and respectable life. May the earth remain a homely and safe home for us to live together!
In order to concretize the commitment to care for our common home, the Indonesian Sisters have begun - simultaneously in all their locations - a process of "ecological conversion" on the occasion of their 67th anniversary of their "Maria Bintang Laut Province". For a month, they worked together creatively and lovingly in projects that support the protection of our common home. Some communities have chosen to plant in their garden vegetables for their daily needs, others have made environmentally friendly enzymes from fruit- and vegetable peelings, which can be used for cleaning dirty household appliances; still other communities have processed waste products in an appropriate manner so that it could be re-used. In addition, the sisters have washed their used mouth- and nose-masks, which are worn daily, in such a way that they can be reused.
All these activities were documented in the form of a video and presented at the opening of the Eucharistic celebration on December 12, 2021. The sisters' enthusiasm for "Laudato Si'" can be seen on the Providence Sisters' Youtube channel: www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBzT-jS4RYY
The activities we begun are continued in everyday life as a responsibility for caring for our common home.
