The Indonesian Province ‘Mary Star of the Sea’ is running the ‘Social Foundation Eduard Michelis’ - (Yayasan Sosial Edward Michelis) [YSEM] since August 1, 1975. This Foundation offers health services.
The needs of people in our foundation are very different. Therefore our social commitment must be well organized and our services professionally done. Our Government has released new regulations for all social foundations across the country. That's why we expanded our social works: on November 25, 2016, a new Foundation was established under the name: ‘Social foundation of Divine Providence’ (Yayasan Sosial Penyelenggaraan Ilahi) [YSPI]. Sr. Klarista, as the Provincial Coordinator, has appointed new Trustees for the two foundations.
The ‘Social foundation Eduard Michelis’ is responsible for the social works of the province including hospitals in Semarang and Kudus, Temanggung, Maubesi and Atambua. The Board of Trustees include among others Sr. Leona (Chairperson); Sr. Magda (Secretary) and Sr. Laura (Economist).
The service of the new ‘Social foundation of Divine Providence’ is for the little ones, the poor, the weak, the marginalized and the disabled. In this new foundation a centre of rehabilitation provides help and support for those affected by violence and exploitation within families and society. The Foundation is responsible for our children's home ‘Bethlehem’ in Temanggung, for the boarding school in Maubesi and the pastoral service for elderly people in Timor. The Foundation will also accompany women, who work abroad and are treated badly as well as paying attention to women, who are affected by human trafficking. The Trustees of this new Foundation include: Sr. Laurentina (Chairperson), Sr. Valerie (Secretary) and Sr. Laura (Economist).
May the sisters, who belong to the Board of the Foundation, work well together and support each other in order to proclaim God's love in the way Jesus did, who was always present to the poorest of the poor.
