Sister Elidia celebrates her 100th anniversary birthday
On April 14, 1920, Lidwina Guilhermina Bösing was born in S. Salvador do Sul/Montenegro, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. When she entered our religious congregation, she was given the name Sister Elidia.
The sisters of the "House of Divine Providence" in the district of Trindade, in Florianopolis, creatively prepared this celebration in the middle of the Easter season. The day began with the Laudes. During this prayer period, Sister Elidia renewed her vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. Hugs and kisses were not possible due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Nevertheless, her sisters expressed their joy and love through various gestures: through flowers and small gifts, through a large cake, congratulations were read out, important moments from the life of Sr. Elidia were recalled and the traditional song "Good luck and much blessing..." was sung with subsequent applause. Her life is marked by signs of devotion, fidelity, zeal, and love that she has given to her mission, especially in the field of health and evangelization among many families.
The most charming person of the day was the birthday child herself, sitting in a wheelchair in full health and clarity, radiating happiness, with a smiling face and words of thanks on her lips, coming from a very grateful heart.
"I can do everything through Him, who comforts me" was always the motto of Sister Elidia. This word supported her in faith and gave her courage, strength, and confidence to fulfill all that was entrusted to her with love and devotion. We hope that this word of her life will continue to inspire her.
May the providential and Triune God bless and strengthen her!
