Sister Isolina celebrates her 100th birthday
She moves quietly and calmly, with slow steps through the premises of the "Home Divine Providence" in Santa Clara do Sul/RS, Brazil. She loves to admire nature and talking to the birds. Her simplicity is enchanting! She is a woman of few words, but who teaches us much through her life... We are talking about Sr. Isolina (Myra Seibt), the eldest sister of the Province: "Mother of Providence". On May 10, 2021, Sr. Isolina reached her 100th birthday. She dedicated 74 years of them to the Kingdom of God as Sister of Divine Providence.
Sr. Isolina was born in 1921 in Arroio do Meio/RS. As an adult, she felt the vocation to a religious life and joined the Congregation of the Sisters of Divine Providence at an age of 26. Since then, her life’s motto has been to "follow Jesus Christ."
Sr. Isolina had great artistic skills. As a teacher of needle- and sewing work, she taught many students her knowledge throughout her professional life. Thus she became for many a sign of God's Providence.
In 1988 she joined the community: "Home Divine Providence". As a good seamstress, she continued to work there and thus served her fellow-sisters. From scraps of fabric she received from a factory, she sewed clothes for poor children. Another task she liked to do was planting flowers and tea. Today she spends her time praying, contemplating nature, listening to news from the radio station. She is a loving sister among her sisters. Sr. Isolina teaches us that it is possible to become 100 years old and still radiating joy, health, simplicity and a grateful heart.
To celebrate their 100th birthday, the Sisters of her community "Home Divine Providence" organized a beautiful thanksgiving ceremony; then they served lunch and cake. Everything was very festive! They were joined by Sr. Sandra Maira Pires and Sr. Glaci Teresinha Willers (from the Provincial Coordination), sisters from the neighboring communities and some family members of Sr. Isolina (her sister, two nephews, two great-nephews and a great-grand-nephew).
Congratulations on your 100th birthday, dear Sr. Isolina! May the God of Providence bless and strengthen you so that you can continue to radiate joy in our midst
