Groundbreaking ceremony for JPIC Divina Providentia Office-Building in Kupang, Indonesia
The desire to participate in the development of God's work always begins with
prayer and cooperation
Our prayers and desire to have a place for youth activities and to strengthen the community in Kupang have been answered. In front of the monastery of the "Community of Providentia" is a simple building that was once used for kindergarten activities. After this building was no longer used for that purpose, it ought to be used as a place for activities in general, but this did not come about due to some damages. This building can only be used for small groups, for example activities of the sisters. Yet our desire and dream is to renovate the building, however, the financial situation did not allow that.
Some time ago, the “Maria Kana Cave Community” contacted me (Sister Laurentina) and asked what we needed to help the victims of human trafficking. I immediately said that we would like to renovate the office building of JPIC (Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation) and the hall for enabling activities. In order to plan this, we were asked to make a proposal with the consent of Sr. Klarista, provincial coordinator.
The "Maria Kana Cave Community" is firmly engaged in the fight for the poor. I knew her through Father Ismartono SJ, who helped us with the work of JPIC. This community has previously consulted with Cardinal Mgr. Suharyo, who hoped that the community would be able to help victims of human trafficking. This community has held a golf tournament to raise funds. The proceeds were donated to help victims of human trafficking; and we took care of everything to get development funds from the "Maria Kana Cave Community"
We are very grateful for the prayers and support of the sisters and each individual to make our dream of having an office building and activity hall for JPIC Divina Providentia Kupang come true. The foundation stone was laid on Monday morning, 16 January 2023. The event began with a Eucharistic celebration in the community of the Sisters of Divine Providence under the direction of Fr. Valens Aquino CMF.
“Your Providence, Father, guides all things!”
