DAY OF THE POOR „TOGETHER CROSSING BOUNDARIES TO FIGHT FOR LIFE”
In the context of the 80th anniversary of the municipality St. Yohanes Evangelista Kudus, Indonesia and on the occasion of the ‘Sunday of the Poor’, the municipality organized a charitable program. Altar boys, young people from the various groups and Providence Sisters from the community, St. Vincent, participated. They distributed food, gave clothes the garbage collectors in Tanjungrejo and visited the rehabilitation home for mentally handicapped, "Jalma Sehat" in Brayung, Jekulo Kudu.
All, regardless their religious background, were considered.
We took part to cross 'boundaries' and to share joy.
The encounter with the garbage collectors made us aware what it means to fight for a better life with waste.
When we visited the rehabilitation home "Jalma Sehat", we learned from a man, who dedicates his service and his commitment to the healing of others.
This charitable program is a continuation of a previous action of the municipality. In the last action, the community has built a well. And the people are really grateful for the fountain, because clean water around their homes is a very helpful contribution to their survival.
The owner of the rehabilitation home said that all wells had dried up during the dry season some time ago. But, thank God, this fountain, which was built by the Church, gives up to now still plenty of water.
We, Providence Sisters are grateful for the work of the church-community:
"Together crossing boundaries and embrace life that is threatened".
Deo Gratias.
