Gather, celebrate, rejoice… at the cradle of our Congregation!
The long-awaited 3rd November 2017 has arrived! It is the day of celebration in "Children and youth help St. Mauritz", where it all began 175 years ago! Here is the ‘Holy ground’ that still today admits, defends and promotes the lives of children, adolescents and young people in risk situations.
It is impossible to describe, what is moving in the heart of each individual sister, who was able to visit this place for the first time! Now, it was possible to touch and to look at that, what previously one could only know by images and from hear-say.
The zenith of the festivities was the Eucharistic Celebration with sisters, children, employees, members of the Board of Trustees and friends. The theme "The searching woman" (Lk 15.8-10) moved through the whole ceremony like a red thread. Even though geographically far away, we felt with our sisters around the world in the different realities united.
After lunch, we experienced other significant moments:
- in the cemetery of St. Mauritz, we visited the grave of Franz Spiegel, a friend and collaborator of Eduard Michelis. We prayed there and remembered also other benefactors of our congregation;
- In the St. Mauritz Church, we prayed at the baptism fountain, where E. Michelis was baptized.
- On this occasion and at this blessed place, we started our joint project: the "International network of the Sisters of Divine Providence to the defense of life" that we placed under the protection of our founder, Eduard Michelis.
